My Biggest Strides-

My Best Advice: “Hi Henry! Your background for your speech was very peaceful & the lighting was just right. Some things that could maybe use some more time on could be your introduction and conclusion. The introduction was nice, but maybe if you held up the object for a little longer while you described it, it could make it easier for the audience. In the conclusion, you could even just add one more sentence to wrap it up. I know this is something I too need to work on. Overall great speech!”

Why It’s My Best Advice: I believe that this is good advice given because it gives the audience more of a visual of the object that holds importance. This will help the audience be able to see the object while the speaker is talking and gives the best of both worlds. Also, I think this advice was very good in including that I too have to work on giving a good conclusion to my speech. This ensures that the person I am giving feedback to is not alone in needing improvement in this area of the speech.

Best Advice From My Peers: “Hi Julia, I liked your video-creative idea! I could see what you were doing very well and I feel like I would be able to french braid as a result of your instruction! Just a couple of ideas that might make a big impact. First off, perhaps in your introduction, you could explain why is it important for you or your audience to learn this skill. In addition, if the audience could see your face a little bit more, especially in the conclusion, I think it would seem more interactive. (I understand why you can’t constantly be in the frame due to the nature of the skill and to avoid revealing your model’s face) Great work on this!”

Why It’s Their Best Advice: This advice was very good to have. It gave me good pointers on what I could potentially add to my introduction and conclusion. This advice doesn’t just tell me to work on the introduction, I was also given an example of what I could say which was very helpful. Encouragement definitely helped me to revise what I had for a dry run. Also, I liked how they pointed out that maybe I could be in the frame a little bit more, but understood why I couldn’t. I had to make sure in this skill of french braiding you could see the individual’s back of the head while I was braiding. The reassurance in this feedback also was very nice, hearing that someone could take my instruction and do the same skill themselves.
